You might have encountered the auto numbering feature when using the Fill Handle in Excel sheets. However, there are times when all you wanted to do was copy the same value in the cells down.
This can be achieved by simply holding down the CTRL key while using the Fill Handle. It works as a faster alternative to Copy and Paste option.
Also, in the newer Excel versions, a Paste Options button appears after you have filled or pasted content. Click it and choose the most appropriate option you are looking to fill the values with.
The Paste Options dialog also pops up when you use the Fill Handle with the Right Mouse Key.
